A Tradition of Excellence Beyond the Arts
Dance Music Creation was founded in 1996 by Lanette Lucado. Since that time we have strived to provide our community with professional dance instruction in a warm, nurturing environment. We offer recreational classes for children as young as 18 months, and competitive level teams for our more serious dancers. DMC's mission is to provide a nurturing learning environment where all dancers will grow in confidence, skill, and learn to be their best.

Miss Lanette started training as both a dancer and teacher in Decatur, Illinois at Debbie's Dance Studio. In high school, Miss Lanette was a UCA All Star Cheerleader and was chosen to perform in London, England in the Westminister New Years Day Parade. She also was part of the Decatur Power Tumblers. Before moving to Virginia, Miss Lanette attended Illinois State University and Richland Community College. She also trained and performed professionally with the Prairie Dance Theatre Ballet Company. In 1997 Miss Lanette was a participant in the Mrs. Virginia International pageant system representing Lynchburg. Miss Lanette has choreographed for the Dude Cigarette, Project Dance NYC, Miss Lynchburg and Mrs. Virginia pageant systems and judged for Dance Machine and Boogie Fever dance competitions. Recently she took the DMC Dance company to Nationals where they won many top awards including first place, entertainment awards, and their production of the Can Can won Grand National Champion 2010.
Mrs. Audrey has been dancing with Dance Music Creation since our opening season in 1997! All of her training has been at DMC and Ms. Lanette was her very first dance teacher. Ms. Audrey worked in the studio office for several years and has been teaching with us since 2011. Ms. Audrey graduated from Liberty University in 2013 with a BS in Elementary Education. In addition to teaching our Shooting Stars, Ballet 1, Ballet 4 and Pointe classes, she also is an award winning choreographer for our Tiny, Mini and Ballet classes of the DMC Shining Stars Performance Company. In her spare time, Ms. Audrey enjoys baking and spending time with her husband Josh, their daughter Olivia and their two cats, (who drive Ms. Audrey crazy). Growing up in the dance studio, Ms. Audrey learned that success (in dance and in life) depends on hard work and dedication.
Mrs. Claire began dancing at Blue Ridge Performing Arts Academy in Rocky Mount, Virginia when she was just four years old. She continued to dance and compete until her graduation from high school. While attending Liberty University to earn her B.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language, Mrs. Claire found Dance Music Creation and came aboard as an instructor. Mrs. Claire teaches our Pre-Jazz/tap, Tap 1, Tap ¾, and Clogging 1 classes. She is also an award winning choreographer for our Petite Tap, Junior Tap, Elite Tap and Clogging classes of the DMC Shining Stars Performance Company. During the day, Mrs. Claire teaches English to Chinese students through an online program called VIPKID. She is also a Quality Assurance Editor for Liberty University Online Academy. In her spare time Mrs. Claire enjoys spending time with her husband Matt and their son Caleb as well as hand lettering, crafting and making new recipes. Through dance Mrs. Claire learned that no matter how big, small or mundane a task may be, we need to give it our all and apply ourselves 100%
Miss Alana began dancing at Dance Music Creation at age 9 and remained a student here until she was 18. During our 20th Anniversary recital Miss Alana returned to the stage in our alumni dance number. Shortly thereafter she began teaching with us! In addition to teaching our Tiny Stars, Twinkle Stars, Shooting Stars, Tumble Stars, Rising Stars Hip Hop 1 and Pre-Ballet classes, Miss Alana works full time at BMS Direct. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors as well as studying dance videos on YouTube. Miss Alana is mama to two fur babies, her kitty cats Bynx and Chloe that she loves very much. Miss Alana gives credit to her experience growing up in dance for teaching her how important it is to always love yourself.
